Local Solutions

There are plenty of things one can do in their own home for their family and neighbors without having to step on a plane and fly to the far end of the world.

It is true Most of our great grandparents knew how to grow a garden, how to sew, how to conserve water and electricity, while most people today don’t even know where their water or produce comes from.

The first thing you can do is start composting your waist and plant a garden in your yard or on your balcony. Head down to the local nursery and ask the gardeners what they use and what they plant. Surfers hang out at surf shops, musicians hang out at music stores and gardeners hang out at nurseries. You are bound to find a worker or fellow patron that would love to get you started in the right direction.

The next thing that you need to do is pay attention and start asking questions. Not just to gardeners but what your buying at the grocery store and where it is coming from. Don’t believe or receive everything you read and hear as the truth, educate yourself and look into it.

Get involved with a local gardening community or organic farmers in your area.

I am a big fan of organic gardening, I also like sharing with those around me on how we can grow our own.
