Urban Fish Farming

Urbanfishfarmer.com is another web-site that we created as a resource dedicated to like-minded backyard gardeners, home scale aquaponic farmers and urban fish farmers to share their thoughts, ideas, and plans.
So lets face it, I myself do not have a degree in horticulture nor am I an avid fisherman, however over time I have come to appreciate and admire the symbiotic relationship between plants and fish in aquaponic farming. I caught the garden bug over ten years ago after listening to a program on the radio about edible landscaping. That next weekend I started a garden and a compost bin and slowly me and my family’s life began to change.
Aquaponic farming can be used on both a large or small scale. Some use it for preventative medicine, controlling everything that their body intakes, others use it for their main source of protein and nutrition in an area with a lack of natural resources for survival. A simple system can be as easy as adding some plants to your fish tank, to a unit that offsets many of your family’s meals. The choice is up to you.
It is our desire at Urbanfishfarmer.com to develop a platform where like-minded backyard gardeners and home scale aquaponic farmers can share with each other what they have learned over the years weather it be on a home or commercial scale. It is our goal to excite our families, friends and neighbors enough to want learn more about raising their own food.
Find out more about different aquaponic systems, different fish and a ton of different resources.
